EIC Larnaca

Situated within the Natura 2000 protected Salt Lake of Larnaca, the Visitor Centre is conceived as a quiet mediator between landscape and visitor, balancing ecological protection with education and public engagement. Native habitats are restored, while the approach from the parking unfolds through existing vegetation, immersing visitors in the landscape before arrival.
The funnel-shaped form responds to both site and programme, generating varied spatial conditions and framing key views. Contrasting solid and glazed façades reinforce the dialogue between enclosure and openness, while an operable metal curtain allows the building to shift between outward engagement and a more sheltered, inward-looking experience.
Terraces and accessible roof observation areas extend the experience into the surrounding landscape. Flexible exhibition, learning, and social spaces maintain continuous visual and physical connections to the outdoors. Sustainable strategies include native planting, permeable surfaces, passive shading, rainwater
